What is a cassette unit system?
A cassette unit air conditioner is an indoor air conditioning unit that is fitted in a recessed position in the ceiling, typically in a suspended or false ceiling in commercial premises. As long as there is a minimum of 300mm of void space, the cassette unit can normally be installed flush with the ceiling.
The cassette unit has four vents, one pointing in each compass point direction. Because of this, it’s a very effective unit for larger spaces, as well as circulating air well in irregularly shaped rooms.
What are the benefits of cassette unit systems?
Cassette unit systems offer a range of benefits, including:
- Neat and tidy aesthetic flush to surface of suspended ceiling
- Optional remote control to adjust vents from distance
- Easy access for scheduled maintenance and servicing
- Low fan noise is perfect for schools, dentists and quiet offices
- High energy efficiency means lower running costs
- Cooling & heating
Cassette unit air conditioning is also a popular option in refurbishment projects, as the units can be installed with relatively little disruption. Cross Air Conditioning’s engineers will always aim to complete work quickly and quietly, with no mess left behind.
How do cassette units work?
Air is drawn into the cassette unit, where it is cooled and filtered to remove contaminants like dust, pollen and even unwanted odours. The cool/hot air is then pushed out via the four outlets giving comfortable climate control.
The result is a consistently cool, clean air interior for your premises, with reliable output even in large open-plan areas.
How energy efficient are cassette units?
By cooling in four directions at once, cassette units are highly efficient, as the entire area is treated at the same time. They are designed to run very quietly, so no energy is lost as unnecessary noise or vibration.
You can improve the energy efficiency of cassette air conditioners with variable speed fans which mean only the necessary amount of energy is used at any given time as the fan speeds up and slows down with the swing in temperature.
