Ducted Air Conditioning System Installation, Service and Repair
When you have multiple rooms to cool or a larger area to cover, ducted air conditioning is a great option. It costs a little more to install but it gives you endless possibilities, the largest possible output, and the most minimal visual impact with only the air grilles visible.
This is a popular choice in larger commercial premises, especially open-plan spaces where a large number of wall-mounted units would be needed to heat or cool the entire area.
However, if you are building a new domestic property, ducted air conditioning is the way to provide central aircon to the highest standard and minimal visual impact.
Cross Air Conditioning have over 20 years’ experience installing ducted air conditioning and wall-mounted a/c units in domestic and commercial premises alike. Our engineers are City and Guilds certified, and are specialist a/c installers.
What is ducted air conditioning?
Ducted air conditioning is sometimes called ‘central air’. It’s the air conditioning equivalent of central heating, with cool air carried around your home or business through ducts hidden in the ceiling void. The indoor air conditioning unit itself is also hidden, either in the ceiling if there is enough of a void, or in a loft in residential premises.
What are the benefits of ducted air conditioning?
Although the installation cost is higher, ducted air conditioning is generally seen as the most luxurious solution:
- Completely concealed a/c unit and ducts, apart from the air grilles
- Extremely versatile in terms of position of grilles
- Very high output for substantial cooling duty
- ‘Central air’ cools entire home or business from one system
- Cooling & heating
- Brings fresh air into the property if required
We can help you to decide if ducted a/c is the right solution for you. Contact Cross Air Conditioning today to speak to one of our friendly and fully qualified engineers.
How does ducted air conditioning work?
Ducted aircon is great if you want minimal visible a/c equipment in your home. A single air handling unit is hidden inside your property e.g. in a loft or false ceiling. Ducts carry the warm or cool air to every room, so that the whole property is kept at a consistent target temperature.
How energy efficient is ducted air conditioning?
On the one hand, ducted a/c means you only have to run a single air handling unit, which can be more efficient than powering multiple ducted wall-mounted air conditioners throughout your home. It’s worth noting that central air will typically keep all rooms at the same temperature, so if you need to control one room separately to the others e.g. because you have a baby or elderly resident, a wall-mounted unit might be a better option.
